- Navalshore opens 20th edition in Rio de Janeiro
The 20th edition of Navalshore, one of Brazil’s leading maritime and shipbuilding industry events, opens this Tuesday (18) at ExpoRio, in Rio de Janeiro.
Running through August 20, the event brings together shipyards, shipowners, equipment manufacturers and service providers from across Brazil’s maritime, naval and offshore supply chain.
- Petrobras contracts Halliburton for wells supporting São Tomé CCS pilot
Petrobras has signed a contract with Halliburton for the drilling and completion of four onshore wells at Barra do Furado Station (EBAF), in Quissamã, Rio de Janeiro, as part of the São Tomé CCS Pilot Project.
The scope includes one vertical injection well and three directional monitoring wells. The project will integrate CO₂ capture, pipeline transportation and geological storage in a saline reservoir, with capacity to store up to 100,000 tonnes of CO₂ per year for three years.
The pilot will be used to test technologies and procedures for future carbon capture and geological storage projects in Brazil.
- Petrobras plans three additional wells in Foz do Amazonas following Morpho results
Petrobras is moving forward with plans to drill three additional exploration wells in block FZA-M-59, following the identification of hydrocarbons at the Morpho well in the Foz do Amazonas Basin.
According to Petrobras Exploration and Production Director Sylvia Anjos, data obtained from Morpho is providing the company with the information needed to define the locations of the next wells. Petrobras has already requested authorization for the additional drilling, which remains subject to environmental approval from Ibama.
Further analysis of the hydrocarbons recovered from Morpho will also be conducted at Petrobras’ CENPES research center as the company continues to evaluate the area’s exploration potential.
- BR Offshore plans construction of ship recycling yard in Northern Rio de Janeiro
BR Offshore plans to begin construction of a new ship recycling yard at Barra do Furado, between Campos dos Goytacazes and Quissamã, between the end of 2026 and early 2027.
The approximately 6 million-square-meter complex is being developed to provide logistics support and recycling capacity for vessels, offshore structures, equipment and components from the oil and gas industry.
The project targets growing demand associated with the decommissioning and recycling of offshore assets in Brazil.
