ROG.e 2026 brings energy industry together in Rio de Janeiro

ROG.e 2026, formerly known as Rio Oil & Gas, is bringing companies, executives, investors and government representatives from across the energy industry to Riocentro in Rio de Janeiro this week. Organized by the Brazilian Institute of Oil, Gas and Biofuels (IBP), the event runs through Thursday (24) and expands the traditional scope of the exhibition to cover different segments of the energy industry, as well as innovation, technology and new business models.

“I was impressed by how much the exhibition has grown compared with last year. The presence of all the major operators, shipyards and offshore support companies also caught my attention,” said Maurício.

This year’s edition brings together more than 400 national and international leaders in a program featuring more than 600 hours of content. IBP also reports more than 700 global speakers, while more than 1,800 technical papers were submitted for selection — the highest number recorded by ROG.e.

The opening ceremony, held on Monday (21), included IBP President Roberto Ardenghy; Petrobras CEO Magda Chambriard; ROG.e Chair and NNF Energy Consultancy CEO Nelson Narciso Filho; and Mozambique President Daniel Chapo. The program combines technical and executive discussions with networking opportunities and cultural events.

During the opening, Chapo also announced that Mozambique’s national oil company, ENH, had signed a memorandum of understanding with Petrobras aimed at establishing partnerships in exploration and production.

The expansion is also reflected in the exhibition area. ROG.e 2026 occupies a total area of 117,000 sq. m., while the exhibition area is 60% larger than in the 2024 edition. The event features 650 brands and 13 international pavilions, more than twice the six featured in the previous edition. Organizers expect 75,000 visitors over the four-day event.

Oil and gas remain among the main areas of focus at ROG.e, at a time of continued growth in Brazil’s offshore activity and new investments in infrastructure and production. At the same time, the program incorporates topics related to the energy transition, innovation and technologies applied to the industry. The agenda also includes natural gas, offshore reserve replacement, supply chain, decommissioning, artificial intelligence and carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS).

The event also features musical performances, including Toni Garrido, Elba Ramalho and Monobloco, following Xande de Pilares’ performance on the opening day.

The impact of ROG.e extends beyond Riocentro. A study conducted by IBP in partnership with Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV) estimates that the event will generate approximately BRL 593 million for Rio de Janeiro’s economy, considering its direct, indirect and induced impacts throughout the year. The estimate also includes more than 10,000 jobs and BRL 95 million in visitor spending.

Of the estimated visitor spending, approximately BRL 63 million is expected to go to accommodation, BRL 25 million to food and BRL 7 million to transportation.

Held every two years, ROG.e 2026 arrives with a stronger international presence and a broader approach to the energy industry.
