Por onde anda? Atlantic Dama

Built in 1974, ATLANTIC DAMA (IMO 7382421) is 52 years old and still active under the Argentine flag. The 950 GT, 1,399 DWT offshore tug/supply vessel is owned and commercially managed by Paraná Logística S.A. since 2018.

Her recent record is more relevant than her age. In 2023, she supported preparatory work for Google’s Firmina subsea cable off Las Toninas. In August 2026, she was operating in Río Negro, supporting offshore activities connected with Punta Colorada and the VMOS development.

On 8 August, during a turning manoeuvre at San Antonio Este, ATLANTIC DAMA came to rest on a sandbank approximately 75 metres from shore, outside the navigation channel.

No injuries or significant damage were reported, and no immediate environmental risk was identified. Prefectura Naval Argentina maintained radio contact, with response assets standing by.

The crew waited for the next high water. At around 17:20, ATLANTIC DAMA refloated by her own means.

That detail matters.

San Antonio Bay is a macrotidal environment, where tidal ranges can exceed nine metres — compared with approximately 1.2 metres during spring tides in Santos.

There, the tide is not background information. It is an operating parameter.

Within days, ATLANTIC DAMA was back at work. Together with BREMEN HUNTER, she participated in positioning the Combifloat C7 platform off Punta Colorada following a controlled tow of approximately 60 nautical miles.

A grounding is never the achievement. The response is the story: communication, patience, use of the tidal window and a controlled return to service, while the causes of the incident remained under investigation.

At 52, ATLANTIC DAMA reminds us that vessel age alone says very little. And Parana Logistica who also serves the market with Salvage operations, self-managed.

Condition, crew and operational discipline say far more.
