Brava starts production from PPT-52 at Papa-Terra

Brava Energia has started production from the PPT-52 well at the Papa-Terra field in Brazil’s Campos Basin, marking the first production milestone of its current four-well offshore campaign.

Production began on September 29 following authorization from Ibama.

The well is currently in the initial stage of operations, with production still under stabilization. Brava has not yet disclosed an initial production rate and said further information on the drilling results and well performance will be provided as operations progress.

PPT-52 had already been drilled, completed and connected to the Papa-Terra FPSO earlier this month, with topside commissioning underway ahead of first oil.

The well is the first of two new producers being developed at Papa-Terra as part of an integrated campaign that also includes two new wells at the Atlanta field in the Santos Basin.

The campaign is being carried out with Constellation’s Lone Star rig, which began operations at Papa-Terra in March.

The second well, PPT-53, had completed its horizontal drilling phase and entered completion as of Brava’s latest operational update.

Under Brava’s latest public schedule, Lone Star is expected to move to Atlanta in October to begin drilling ATL-9H and ATL-10H. First oil from the two Atlanta wells is currently scheduled for the second quarter of 2027.

Lone Star’s contract with Brava has a firm duration of 400 days and covers four firm wells, plus a 60-day priced option that includes one possible workover. The contract was valued at approximately US$130 million, excluding integrated services and MPD.

The start-up of PPT-52 marks the transition of the integrated campaign from drilling and subsea execution into incremental production, while work continues on the remaining wells.
