Navalshore and Brazilian Party

At the opening of Navalshore, last tuesday (August 19) Transpetro CEO Sérgio Bacci announced the effectiveness of the contract for the construction of Handy size tankers at the Ecovix shipyard, under the Ecovix–Mac Laren consortium. These vessels, intended for Transpetro, will strengthen Brazil’s cabotage operations and the distribution of oil products along the coast. The contract, signed earlier this year, now enters into force, marking a significant step for Brazil’s shipbuilding sector and reinforcing the strategic role of domestic yards in supporting the country’s energy logistics.

This was the 19th edition of the event, which ran for three days and concluded last Thursday (August 21), bringing together thousands of attendees and leaders from major offshore companies.

Also at Navalshore, Bacci confirmed that the bid for the chartering of eight newbuilding gas carriers will have its packages opened on September 22. This tender is widely considered the most significant Petrobras and Transpetro initiative in 2025, forming part of the Fleet Renewal and Expansion Program that aims to strengthen Brazil’s energy logistics. Bacci also confirmed that Transpetro will launch Phase 3 of its fleet renewal program in September, which includes the chartering of four MR1-class vessels.

On the evening of August 20, WSB was present at the third edition of the Brazilian Party, held at the Rio de Janeiro Yacht Club. The event took place in parallel with Navalshore, one of the largest shipbuilding exhibitions in the world, and gathered around 600 executives from across the maritime and offshore industry. Performances by Ferrugem and Capital Elétrico made the evening even more remarkable, reinforcing the Brazilian Party’s role as a key networking and cultural highlight for industry professionals.
