P-80 and P-82 prepare to sail for Brazil

Petrobras and Seatrium held the christening and sailaway ceremony for the P-80 and P-82 FPSOs on Thursday, August 27, at the Tuas Boulevard Yard in Singapore.

Both units are in the final stage of module integration and are expected to begin their voyages to Brazil in the coming weeks. P-80, which will operate as Búzios 9, will be the first to leave the shipyard, followed by P-82, the Búzios 10 production system.

Production from both FPSOs is scheduled to start in 2027.

Each unit has capacity to produce up to 225,000 barrels of oil per day and process 12 million cubic meters of gas per day. Together, P-80 and P-82 will add 450,000 bpd of nominal oil production capacity and 24 million cubic meters per day of gas processing capacity to the Búzios development.

The two FPSOs are part of Petrobras’ new generation of high-capacity production units, incorporating technologies including closed flare systems, methane detection, CCUS and digital twins.

P-80 and P-82 are also part of a broader six-unit high-capacity cycle that began with FPSO Almirante Tamandaré. The program also includes P-83 for Búzios, P-84 for Atapu and P-85 for Sépia.

Part of the construction was carried out in Brazil. Process modules for P-80 were fabricated at Seatrium BrasFELS in Angra dos Reis, Rio de Janeiro, while modules for P-82 were built at Seatrium’s Aracruz yard in Espírito Santo. Other components were produced in China, Singapore and Indonesia before being transported to Singapore for final integration.

With P-80, P-82 and P-83 scheduled to enter production in 2027, Petrobras expects Búzios to exceed 2 million barrels per day of installed production capacity.
