Petrobras’ P-80 FPSO has left the Tuas Boulevard Yard in Singapore and is heading to Brazil, marking the next stage in the development of Búzios 9.

The unit departed on September 30 bound for the Búzios field in the Santos Basin pre-salt, where it is scheduled to begin production in 2027.

P-80 will have capacity to produce 225,000 barrels of oil per day and process 12 million cubic meters of gas per day, giving it the highest nominal production capacity among Petrobras-owned platforms.

The Búzios 9 development is designed to connect 14 wells, including seven producers and seven injectors. The FPSO will operate in water depths of approximately 2,100 meters.

The unit measures 345.3 meters in length and 60 meters in breadth and weighs more than 100,000 tonnes.

Keppel Shipyard won the original EPC contract for P-80 in 2022, valued at approximately US$2.9 billion. The FPSO will be owned by Petrobras.

Part of the construction also took place in Brazil. Process modules were fabricated at the Seatrium BrasFELS yard in Angra dos Reis, while other construction activities were carried out in China, Singapore and Indonesia before final integration in Singapore.

The platform is also travelling with part of its operating crew already onboard, a strategy Petrobras says contributes to system readiness before start-up.

P-80 is heading to Brazil as Búzios moves through another phase of expansion.

In June, Petrobras reported that the field had eight production units in operation when output surpassed 1.2 million barrels per day.

The next units are already advancing.

P-82 is in the final stage of construction in Singapore and will be the next platform in the series to leave the yard. P-83, destined for Búzios 11, is also under construction.

Petrobras currently expects P-80, P-82 and P-83 to begin production in 2027.

With P-80 now underway, Búzios 9 moves from shipyard construction into the mobilization phase ahead of installation and start-up activities in Brazil.
